Malema to study Zim nationalisation
Johannesburg – ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema will “study” the effects of nationalisation in Zimbabwe when he leads a delegation to the country later this week, the league said on Monday.
Malema, who will be hosted by Zanu PF youth, will lead a delegation that “will share information on building a better Africa and world”, a statement from the league said.
“The visit will incorporate the ANC youth league’s study-tour programme of visiting countries that have succeeded or failed with nationalisation of and greater state participation in sectors of their economies,” it said.
Visits would also be made to China, Chile, Venezuela, Brazil, and Cuba.
The league delegation to Zimbabwe included deputy secretary general Steven Ngobeni and spokesperson Floyd Shivambu.
Malema is expected to address a number of rallies and meetings during his four-day visit, which starts on Friday.
Zimbabwean Youth Development, Indigenisation, and Economic Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere was quoted in The Herald newspaper as saying Malema was “a vibrant young political leader with a passion for genuine development”.
